Facilitation Skills Workshop

3 Apple Hill Drive

Natick, MA

6:00pm – 8:00pm

Today’s fast-paced and ever-changing workplace requires leaders at every level to have a presence, make an impact, take charge, and facilitate forward action. In fact, the magnitude and speed of change witnessed these last few years have taught us that there is precious little time for successful teams to sit idle on key decisions, allow persistent problems to remain unaddressed, or spend valuable minutes in unproductive meetings or training sessions. Our new world demands people who can confidently stand up, choose a course of action, and engage the talent on their teams in processes that produce alignment and results. This course examines what it takes to be an effective, on-the-spot leader and navigator of group dynamics, both live and virtually, to help organizations perform at their highest level. Ample opportunities to "stand and deliver" create an energizing, exciting experience that challenges all.

Together we will:

  • Define what “facilitation” is and the many situations when one can facilitate.
  • Explore 3 levels of facilitation (self, audience, environment) and practice key skills at each level.
  • Develop a clearer understanding of individual, personal impact when facilitating.
  • Apply techniques for: improving audience engagement, reading an audience to determine needs, and taking steps to move learning and action forward.
  • Consider and assess environmental (cultural, physical space) concerns when facilitating.

About Our Speaker, Susan Vitale

A motivational speaker, writer, executive coach, consultant, and educator, Susan works ardently to create a world where people can and want to bring their best to everything they do. For the last three decades, she has built a successful consulting practice where she combines intuitive insight into human nature with profound empathy and boundless humor to help people and organizations make purposeful change. Whether working with executives in a boardroom, nurses in a busy emergency department, or college students in a lecture hall, Susan teaches people that success is based, not on what they studied in class, but on what they learned on the playground. She adeptly connects fulfillment in our relationships to how compassionately we treat one another, how transparently we communicate, and how fully we show up. At her core, Susan believes our most essential relationship is the one we have with ourselves.

Her impressive client list includes leading financial institutions, prominent universities, esteemed government, and military agencies, and the top medical institutions in the world. Ironically, she began her career as a Chemical Engineer working for Procter and Gamble but learned at a young age that her passion and skills better served another profession. Since shifting gears in the early 90s, Susan has made her life’s work: Inspiring your best human experience. She lives on a New Hampshire lake where the view, natural beauty, and ever-present wildlife provide peace, faith, and inspiration.
